Search Prints + Photography Alcaston Gallery actively promotes the printmaking medium through major exhibitions, permanent on-line collections, and a gallery space dedicated to works on paper.
Most indigenous artists living in remote communities do not have access to print studios. Limited edition prints are a labour of love. It is the successful collaboration between artist and printer that results in beautiful and unique prints. It can involve many bush trips by the printer or city visits by the artist and the process can take up to 12 months to complete. It is through commissioned printmaking workshops with Australia’s leading printers that the artists have the opportunity to experiment with this exciting medium and to broaden their creative expression.
Limited edition prints are original artworks and should not be confused with reproductions. They sit alongside and rank as highly as paintings and sculpture. Alcaston Gallery also exhibits photography.
