NELLIE NGAMPA COULTHARD
Alcaston Gallery has a long and proud tradition of representing artists from across the Aṉangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY Lands) and in anticipation of Nellie Ngampa Coulthard's first solo exhibition in 2021 we present a selection of works made this year exclusively available to view and purchase online.
Nelllie Ngampa Coulthard is a Pitjantjatjara/Yankunytjatjara artist originally from the far eastern desert near Oodnadatta, who later moved to the community of Indulkana in the Anangu Pitjantjatjara Yankunytjatjara (APY) Lands in South Australia.
In her paintings entitled Tjuntala Ngurangka (Country with Acacia Wattle), Coulthard depicts her favourite native flora that surrounds her country with vibrant, luminescent colour and a distinctive and precise dotting technique.
Nellie Ngampa Coulthard’s works are held in many private collections and in 2021 she will present her first solo exhibition at Alcaston Gallery from 12 May – 5 June 2021.

TIGER YALTANGKI - Summer Online Exhibition 2020-21
Alcaston Gallery is thrilled to present an exclusive online exhibition of paintings and limited edition prints by celebrated APY Lands artist TIGER YALTANGKI.
One of the most exciting artists working in the APY Lands today, Yaltangki draws inspiration from his traditional Anangu heritage and his avid appreciation for popular culture, such as rock and roll music, science fiction films and television shows.
This year Tiger Yaltangki was announced as a finalist in the prestigious Archibald Prize at the Art Gallery of New South Wales in Sydney; the 37th Telstra National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Art Awards Exhibition at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory in Darwin; and the Paul Guest Prize at Bendigo Art Gallery in Victoria.
Tiger Yaltangki’s work is featured in numerous public and private collections in Australia and overseas including the Art Gallery of New South Wales, Sydney; Parliament House Art Collection, Canberra; the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, Darwin; and the Fondation Opale, Switzerland.
Mirdingkingathi Juwarnda SALLY GABORI
The incomparable SALLY GABORI’s painterly interpretations of her Bentinck Island home combine country, colour and her mind’s eye, which captured the hearts and minds of art lovers across Australia and all over the world. Her signature application of vivid colour and expressive brushstrokes brilliantly portray her island country impart to the viewer a real and intimate sense of who Sally Gabori was and where she was from.
Her immense legacy was honoured in the major retrospective exhibition Mirdidingkingathi Juwarnda Sally Gabori: Dulka Warngiid – Land of All at the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art, Brisbane from 21 May – 28 August 2016 and the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne from 23 September 2016 – 21 January 2017.
In 2021 Sally Gabori will be honoured with a major solo survey exhibition at the distinguished Fondation Cartier pour l’art contemporain in Paris, France.
