JUDY HOLDING | PAINTED DIARIES

29-Sep-2015 - 23-Oct-2015

JUDY HOLDING is a painter and sculptor who creates complex, energetic narratives inspired by the natural world. The rich imagery that adorns Holding’s artworks is drawn from her lived experience of the remote northern Australian landscape and the southern goldfields of Victoria.

Holding’s sweeping painterly documentation and playful sculptural forms present a spirited mediation on plants, animals, indigenous mythology, and the role of man in the vast biosphere. With great detail Holding surveys and records a repertoire of colours and symbols from her surroundings which she reconfigures into three dimensional objects, drawings, paintings & collage.

Holding has exhibited extensively throughout Australia and her artwork is held in major public and private collections including National Gallery of Australia, Shepparton Art Museum, Artbank, Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, BHP Biliton, and Deakin University Art Collection.
