Meet the Artist Event | Christine Multa, Winner Desart Art Worker Photography Prize 2014

On Saturday 3rd May 2014 Alcaston Gallery was thrilled to hold a special Meet the Artist Event with Christine Multa, winner of the second annual Desart Art Worker Photography Prize 2014.

Christine was accompanied by Chrischona Schmidt, Art Centre Manager at Ikuntji Artists, NT, Joeanne Sliverton, Art Worker at Ikuntji Artists, NT and Marlene Chisholm, Art Worker Program Coordinator at Desart, NT.

An enthusiastic audience were treated to a floortalk led by Alcaston Gallery Director Beverly Knight, who discussed the importance of the prize providing a platform for Indigenous communities to document their cultural practices for future generations.

Tiwi Artists Pedro Wonaemirri & Patrick Freddy Puruntatameri featured in Art Collector

The current issue of Art Collector (Issue 68, Apr-Jun) features an important article on the history of Tiwi art and the artists at Jilamara Arts and Crafts Association including PEDRO WONAEMIRRI and PATRICK FREDDY PURUNTATAMERI. 

Alcaston Gallery will be exhibiting new work by PEDRO WONAEMIRRI and PATRICK FREDDY PURUNTATAMERI including paintings in ochre on bark and linen and sculptures in ironwood from 20 May - 20 June 2014.
