HERMANNSBURG POTTER IRENE ENTATA AT QAGOMA

Ceramic artwork by internationally renowned Hermannsburg Potter, the late IRENE ENTATA (1946 - 2014) are currently on display in Gallery 3 at the Queensland Art Gallery | Gallery of Modern Art (QAGOMA), Brisbane

Three painted terracotta pots by the late Arrernte–Luritja artist depict three distinct periods in the life of the great ALBERT NAMATJIRA, arguably one of the most widely recognised Indigenous Australian artists of all time, including the sad circumstances of his death.

BETTY MUFFLER RECEIVES HONOURABLE MENTION AT THE HADLEY'S ART PRIZE 2021

Celebrated senior APY Lands artist and elder Betty Muffler has received an honourable mention at the prestigious Hadley's Art Prize 2021 for her finalist artwork Ngangkari Ngura (Healing Country). 

Esteemed judges Peter McKay (Curator-QAGOMA), Michaye Boultar (Artist) & Nici Cumpston (Curator-AGSA, Artist & Writer) commented on her painting: 

"There is rhythm and movement in the painted lines with a vibrated energy that comes through the mark-making. A subtle but powerful work that generously emanates the gift of her healing energy as a Ngangkari."

Sydney Contemporary 2021 - Postponed until 11-14 November

Sydney Contemporary 2021 has been postponed due to nationwide COVID-19 lockdowns and restrictions.

The new art fair dates will be 11 - 14 NOVEMBER 2021 at Carriageworks in Sydney.

Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Award Winners Announced

Congratulations to all the winners announced for the Telstra National Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander Art Awards (NATSIAA) 2021 announced on Friday evening at the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory, Darwin.Timo Hogan was awarded the major $50,000 Telstra Award while Bugai Whyoulter won the General Painting Award, Dhambit Munungurr won the Bark Painting Award,

Ms M Wirrpanda won the Work on Paper Award, Hubert Pareroultja & Mervyn Rubuntja won the Wandjuk Marika Memorial 3D Award, Kyra Mancktelow won the Emerging Artist Award andPedro Wonaeamirri won the Multimedia Award.

This year's esteemed judges were Denise Quall (artist), Liz Nowell (Curator) and Denis Stokes (CEO, First Nations Media Australia).
